Carson it seems, had brought to the public's attention some very unpleasant facts concerning the widespread use of pesticides, and the devastating effects these chemicals had on birds, animals (both wild and domestic) - and humans.

    Samuel Major "Sam" Hodges, who owned the Benton Courier for more than 40 years, died Monday night. He was 86. Mr. Hodges, who lived in Little Rock, bought the Courier in June 1953. He sold it in 1996 to American Publishing Co. The Courier is now owned by Horizon Publishing Co.
